VariVueFinder Rack Mount Version (front)

VariVueFinder Rack Mount Version (back)

The dual-purpose VariVueFinder remote control panel provides both TBC proc amp control and jog/shuttle control from a single, rack-mount panel. Now, workhorse VTRs, like the Panasonic's DVCPro and Sony's UVW lines, can have the precise control that professionals have come to expect.

The VariVue® portion provides both the essential proc amp controls for many Sony and Panasonic VTR models with internal time base correctors. The TBC controls, non-existent on some machines, can now be within convenient reach of the operator in the edit suite. Many VTR models accept the VariVue® control panel, including the BetaCam and M II series, VHS and 8mm models, 1" formats, and the newer digital machines.

The VariVue® control panel includes four knobs for direct control of the Video Level, Set-up, Chroma Level, and Hue. Each control has a "var/unity" switch to allow selective adjustment of each parameter. Additional trimmer controls provide H Sync, SubCarrier, and Y/C delay (for Sony only) adjustments. The VariVue® control panel plugs into the 15-pin "TBC Remote" connector located on the rear panel of the VTR. Note: Not all parameters can be controlled on some component and/or digital outputs of certain machines due to design limitations of the machines themselves. Consult with the factory or machine manufacturer for details.

The VueFinder portion provides basic transport control for video tape recorders and harddrive-based video recorders. The control panel plugs into the 9-pin remote control port that supports the "Sony Serial" protocol. Many video machines support this protocol, including Panasonic and Sony.

The control panel includes five pushbuttons for direct control of the Pause, Stop, Play, Record, Rewind and Fast Forward functions. The control knob enables the operator to have fingertip control over the Reverse Shuttle, Forward Shuttle,Reverse Jog, and For ward Jog functions. Switching is automatic between the shuttle and jog modes.

VueFinder is available in two additional versions: GPI and 422 Pass Thru. The GPI version adds external inputs for wire-per-function control of the fiv e pushbutton functions. The GPI version allows simple contact closures to trigger the basic VTR functions. The 422 Pass Thru version has an additional connector that allows a VTR to be alternately controlled by either another RS422 source or the VueFind er panel. The RS422 Pass Thru version is ideal for those VTRs and PC-based edit controllers with no physical buttons and knobs for transport control.

A 15-and a 9-conductor cable connects the control panel to the VTR. These cables transfer power to the c ontrol panel and control data back to the VTR. The GPI and RS422 Pass Thru versions have additional 9-pin D connectors for additional deck control.
