Interface Adapter
The RS-G/4 converts switch closures, relay closures, or logic levels to serial commands for the RS422 protocol as used by most video tape recorders. Built inside a standard 9-pin-to-9-pin gender changer shell (2" x 1" x 1/2"), the RS-G/4 is self-powered from the RS-422 interface, and requires no separate power supply (no "wall warts" to contend with!). It can transmit RS422 at cable lengths up to 100' (30m). The RS-G/4 has switch inputs for Stop, Play, Pause, and Rewind (Command Set A), or Stop, Play, Pause, and Record (Command Set B). Custom command sets are also available.
