model RS-G/4
Installation Instructions

The RS-G/4 converts switch closures, relay closures, or logic levels to serial commands for the RS422 protocol as used by most video tape recorders. The -G/4 has switch inputs for Stop, Play, Pause, and Rewind (Command Set A) or Stop, Play, Pause, and Record (Command Set B). Custom command sets are also available.

All contact closures should be at least 20 milliseconds in length. There is no maximum closure limitation other than all GPI input scanning stops until all inputs have returned to open-contact conditions.

The RS-G/4 adapter simply plugs into the RS422 port of the VTR or digital disk recorder. The RS-G/4 derives its power from the RS422 port and no other power source is required. The Remote/Local switch on the deck's front panel also needs to be in the Remote position in order for the serial interface to control the deck.
